Obviously for work as a tattooer I am influenced greatly by all Japanese art and artists but I do enjoy many other types of art. Fine art to Comic Book art. I think you can find inspiration anywhere.
A local artist I was introduced to in a gallery while on vacation is Jeffrey Briggs. He does awesome sculpture work. You can see more of his work here- http://www.briggssculpture.com/JeffreyBriggsReliefs/BasReliefs/Reliefs.html
Vladislav Provotorov is a Russian painter that many metal bands have used for cover art. He worked a lot during the 80s and his art is dark and powerful. You can see more of his work here- http://www.afonsky.com/MF/ENTER-VProvoGallery.htm
David Mack is a comic book artist I was introduced to back when I was in High School. Combining watercolor/guache, collage, and pen/ink, and pencils he makes beautiful artwork. He is on Facebook and twitter and has a website guide to his work. https://www.facebook.com/pages/David-Mack/21231086294?id=21231086294&sk=info
Finally I included my favorite pin-up artist Bill Ward. What he could do with charcoal and conte was nothing short of genius. And I’m a sucker for pin-up art. You can see more of his work here- http://www.womenofward.net/
I have many more that I could share…some are typical and I thought these were some of the more unique and/or unexpected. Anyways, if you dig it…ENJOY!
